World Class Pole Vault Instruction for The Serious Vaulter

"TRUTH IN ADVERTISING"

As a public service, Vertical Adventures will shed some light on a few of the most common "SCAMS" that can ruin a camp experience. Our camp was started 15 years ago to put an end to these unscrupulous practices.
  1. Most camps that advertise 4 or 5 days, are really 2 & 3 day camps! They have check-in LATE on the first day & check-out EARLY on the last day. They count these as 2 Days of your "5" Day Camp, Don't Be Misled!

  2. Most camps fill their days with "Recreational" activities, such as swimming, volleyball, skateboarding, and surfing, etc. Very little time is spent on Track & Field Instruction.

  3. Many camps employ "Bait & Switch" tactics, or are deliberately vague about their staff. They promise "NAME" clinicians, then substitute them with mediocre ones. More common still, they use words like "PROMINENT", "TOP", "OUTSTANDING" & "CERTIFIED" to hide the fact they are using sub-par clinicians. They should be specific about who is on staff THIS YEAR.

  4. Most camps use words like "FUNDAMENTALS" & "BASICS" to describe the level of instruction, yet they charge you premium prices. What they mean is, you'll be taught at a mediocre level in a "RELAXED" atmosphere. "INFORMAL" also means little structure or quality.

  5. Many colleges and universities that host summer camps do it as an after-thought. They are merely providing a community service per wishes of their administration. This makes for a disappointing camp experience.

  6. Many camps are owned by equipment companies who use them as a tool to sell you vaulting poles, apparel, videos, shoes and more. They utilize high pressure tactics at the camp and offer special Limited Time Discounts to campers who buy on the spot. Teaching is secondary at these camps and they should be avoided at all costs. Our camp enjoys numerous sponsors who have given us their generous support solely to promote Track and Field Excellence!
